FOLSOM – The City of Folsom has introduced an innovative Instant Solar Permitting Portal, providing residents with a quick, efficient way to obtain permits for residential solar panel and battery storage systems. The new system, announced last week, uses automated compliance checks to streamline applications, allowing permits to be issued within 24 hours.

Powered by Symbium, a technology company specializing in regulatory automation, the portal simplifies the permitting process with real-time code checks, eliminating delays common in traditional methods. Symbium’s platform is known for its advanced use of computational law, a tool that automates legal compliance tasks, saving both residents and local governments time and resources. This solution is a significant improvement over manual processes, with experts from Stanford University noting its potential to reduce costs substantially.

The new permitting system is not only more efficient but also compliant with SB379, a California law mandating streamlined and automated permits for home solar and energy storage systems. This legislation aligns with California’s goal to achieve 100 percent clean electricity by 2035, a target Folsom is actively supporting through this initiative.

“The instant permitting portal makes adding solar panels and battery storage a simpler and faster option for Folsom homeowners,” said city officials. “Homeowners can get permits within 24 hours, provided they submit all required documents, ensuring that every installation meets safety and regulatory standards.”

Since its launch, Symbium’s platform has earned praise for its transformative impact on compliance and regulatory processes, with coverage in major publications like Forbes, Government Technology, and Builder Online. The company, founded in 2019, has received multiple awards for its contributions to streamlining regulatory compliance for industries ranging from residential construction to urban planning.

With the new portal, Folsom residents have a convenient pathway to access clean energy solutions, supporting both personal energy savings and statewide environmental goals. For more information, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Folsom’s website and access the portal for their solar permitting needs.
